Circular Letters 1963-1965

This series comprises circular letters written by the directing sister of the Lutheran Deaconess House and School (LDHS), Sister Anna Melville, and sent to LDHS sisters. The letters date from 1963-1965 and appear to have mostly been written once a month. They were used by the directing sister to keep the community informed as to developments that pertained to the community, individual sisters, and the diaconate in general. It notified sisters of upcoming events and meetings, personnel matters, and general news about individual deaconesses. Two of the letters in the first folder have additional writing by Sister Anna Melville on them. One is addressed to a "Sister B." and the other is not addressed to anyone. It appears that Sister B is Sister Bernice Pantel, the deaconess in charge of deaconess education. The additional writing pertains to matters of deaconess education. Of note: individual business correspondence between the directing sister and individual deaconesses is found in each deaconess's personnel file.
